The Gaspe Windmills at Cap Chat
Windmill farm at Cap Chat. The vertical windmill (named Eole) is 360 feet high, cost millions of dollars to construct, and was only in operation for 6 years (from 1987-1993). Metal fragments were found in an air filter indicating that the huge weight of the windmill was wearing away the metal much faster than expected. The research done to construct this monster was used to help with the construction and design of the modern day windmills now manufactured near Mantane and exported all over Canada and the USA.
